The birth was challenging, with the mother requesting a cesarean section but being denied until the situation became an emergency. The baby, GianRaul, experienced difficulties and took doctors 15 minutes to find his heartbeat. After the birth, the parents noticed their doctor and midwife being approached by an individual assumed to be the hospital’s lawyer. The family later sued the hospital and eventually reached a $6.5 million settlement after seven years. GianRaul suffered brain damage, leaving him dependent on others for basic functions. Due to state law, the family only received half of the settlement, which was used for various expenses and a trust for GianRaul’s care.
